Born from necessity, Rapunzel Roofing is redefining the experience of roof replacement.  Having worked in the general contracting business for the past two decades, we have seen the gamut of quality.  We have been involved in countless areas of maintenance, repair, remodeling, rebuilding and new construction. Just when we thought we have seen it all, a new scenario will arise leaving us with less faith in the construction industry. As we often tell clients, most contractors will find any way to cut a corner.  But, if they show up on time, have a smile on their face and clean up after themselves, most people will say the contractor did a great job. It is not until five years later, when problems start to arise that the client learns of the true quality of work.  There is no area of construction that this is truer than in roofing. Among our body of work, we’ve repaired countless roofs. Some roofs have absolutely reached their full useable life and as a result, need replacement due to age…as it should be. Others, sadly, have fallen short. Assessing these failures often reveals deficient installation, poorly executed repairs and the use of inferior materials. It has been within the space of roofs not meeting their expected lifespan that has brought me the most contemplation.

​For a home, depending on the architecture, the roof can potentially be as much as 40% of its exterior. It is frontline to all the elements, protecting one of your largest assets. When it comes to premature failure, it is disheartening to inform owners what has compromised the integrity of their roofs. We see owners who purchased brand new homes with what they believed to be a “30-year” roof only to learn that the “builder grade” roof installation they received is seldom what was promised. The result… failures and replacements starting in as little as 10-15 years. Then there are homeowners who replaced their roofs, went with the lowest bid (because they were assured by the installer “all materials are the same”), without understanding what they purchased or, more importantly, not aware of what they should have purchased. Needing to replace a roof earlier than expected is not great news. To call it frustrating is a real understatement. The good news; The cost difference between an inferior roof and a high-quality roof is less than you think. The difference in value is huge!
